Hala Rado

Sale price$1,399.00
(4.8)

The Epic River, Expedition, and Fishing SUP. At 10'10" × 35", the Hala Rado is built for paddlers who want it all — serious whitewater capability, flatwater efficiency, multi-day expedition readiness, and the top fishing platform in the lineup. Rated for 325+ lbs of paddler and gear. Over a decade of Hala river design, backed by a 5-year warranty.

Rigging points on nose and tail carry everything from dry bags to a cooler and rod holder. The aggressive nose rocker handles Class II–III rivers with confidence; the flatter tail keeps you fast and tracking on calm water. Whether covering miles on a lake, floating a canyon, or rigging a full fishing day, the Rado transitions without compromise.

Hala's patented StompBox 2.5 retractable fin stays spring-loaded at full depth — no bounce, no catching on rocks. It deflects automatically on rock contact and springs back before your next stroke, letting you reach the skinny flats and gravel bars a fixed-fin board can't access. A 9" Spring StompFin and two 4.5" gummy side-bite fins are included. Full fin lineup → Fin options and board comparisons are below.

Complete Hala Rado inflatable paddle board kit, featuring a board with red, teal, and yellow mountain and wave design deck pad. Includes travel bag, dual-action hand pump, 4.5 gummy side-bite fins, StompBox 2.5 retractable fin system, and repair kit.

Fin compatibility

StompBox 2.5 — Center Fins

  • 9" Spring StompFin (Included)Ships with every StompBox 2.5 board. Springs back automatically on rock contact — no need to pull it manually. All-around river fin for Class II–IV.
  • 9" Tracking StompFin (Optional upgrade)Flatwater, fishing, expedition — improved tracking anywhere, fully retracts.
  • 4.5" StompFin (Optional upgrade)Tracking without depth — simple and quick side to side.

Side-Bite Click Fins

  • 4.5" Gummy (Included)Ships with every StompBox board. Soft compound for grip without catching on rocks.
  • 4.5" Hard (Optional)Firmer side bite for maximum carving grip, lateral stability, and edge hold on moving water.
  • 2" Gummy (Optional)Low-profile gummy for shallow, rocky lines where you want side hold without the snag risk.
  • Low-Pro 1.5" (Optional)Minimal drag profile for very shallow sections and tight rocky corridors.
  • Pocket (Optional)Ultra-low profile for the shallowest approaches and the most technical rocky lines.

Click fins seat and hold without tools — just push to click. Grub screws and a surf key are included and recommended: a hard strike from behind the board can trigger the click-release mechanism (that is how you remove them), so tightening the grub screws prevents accidental release in aggressive water.

Sooo Good!

My new Rado is so good. I have been on it 3 times down the east river in crested butte. The water is technical and kinda honey right now at the start then gets deep as you go down. The board is nicely maneuverable in tight sections of class 2 and stable on the wave trains I have got on. The stability and maneuverability are excellent. I can’t wait to get it onto more rowdy terrain!

The material is durable so far. Both small fins ripped off in shallow rocky terrain… 10 miles of it at least so I got the low profile fins. They still installed nicely no damage noticed from smashing the other ones off. The big fin with the spring is the best! It just glides over shallow terrain. There are also tons of gear storage tie down points with lots of configuration to work with.

Very happy with this board it is higher quality than “almost” everything else I have seen out there. I can’t wait for the next trip!

Hi Stephen! We're stoked to hear you're enjoying your Hala Rado and getting out there on the water.

This year in Colorado is definitely a good year to use the 1.5' Low-Pro fins for sliding over those shallow rocky sections. We design the stock 4.5' fins to break/release on bigger impacts to protect the finbox and board from damage. However, since smaller fins don't create the same leverage, you'll notice the Low-Pros are designed to hold a lot harder through the boney stuff.

New Rado (2025/2026) is sporty!

I'm really loving what Hala did with the latest revision of the Rado. They have made this board feel more like an Atcha, but with a HUGE carrying capacity. I regularly do overnight floats on this board with my dog. I'm pushing 200lbs with vest and safety gear, my dog is 60lbs, and I bring close to 100lbs of gear/food/beer. I spend most of my time on Class II water of Colorado and can't recommend this board enough for hauling a ton of gear in moving water.

Hi Kevin! Thank you for your awesome review of the Rado. Glad it's been serving you well on your overnight floats with your dog. We really appreciate your technical breakdown of exactly what we were going for with the design of the Rado - it's excellent for hauling a ton of gear in both flatwater and whitewater. Keep on adventuring and happy paddling!

Incredibly fun!

I’ve only been on this board twice, but I’m completely sold. It feels like a revamped Playa built specifically for Whitewater. By far my new favorite board. The new shape creates so much more speed making rapids easier to navigate. Extra stability having a bit more length makes it easy to get back on the stomp pad to turn. More camber in front allows you to punch through/over holes. I’ve always thought Hala Gear is world class, but this new design feels like it’s changing everything. Thanks HALA!!!

Rock solid Rado

Me and my 80 year old river runner dad paddle our Rados all year. The Rado handles class 2 water with a dog and gear. It was home for 7 days on the Green River. We had starter boards but have never looked back once we got the Rado. Just bought our 3rd one for any tag alongs. Downside, yoga is no longer a challenge on this wider board. Oh well, I love it!

HALA-Could of Asked For

First paddle board ever so take this for what it’s worth. The first thing I look at when making a purchase is product quality closely followed by performance. Zero disappointments. Everything about the Rado is top notch and clearly well thought out. I have no doubt about it lasting for many years. The paddle is Iight and easily adjustable. The pump works well. The rolling pack is just common sense and also clearly well thought out. We purchased this board to carry me and one of our young boys while my wife and our other son kayaked. It’s proven to be very stable and tracks well with both of us aboard. It’s also been the perfect platform for cannonballs. We don’t have many rapids here in Ohio to run this on but have enjoyed a few outings to Lake Erie. It handled some 3-4’ chop well much better than I did trying to stand and paddle. Kneeling and paddling in the waves was a hoot. This thing is going to provide years of great entertainment!

Hole in stomp box

I spent $1300 for one season primarily used on a class II river. I’ve been rocking paddleboards for 10 years on rivers and I am meticulous about caring for my gear but have a hole in the stomp box. Great when it worked but the durability is obviously highly questionable.

Hi Steve,
Really sorry to hear this, especially given your experience and how well you take care of your gear. That’s not the level of durability we expect from the stompbox or the board overall.

All of our boards are backed by a 5-year warranty, and we’d like to take a closer look and get you sorted quickly. I’ve reached out from warranty@halagear.com with instructions to file a claim. Once we have that, we’ll move fast to get you back on the river.

Best board I ever rode

Wow. What an amazing board. I just took it to the lake, and that thing move super smooth and fast. Love it. Can't wait to try it on the river.

Thanks so much for the awesome people that work there. I order the wrong board and after I did used it once, they were super helpful to get me on the right board. Thanks so much

We're stoked that you are loving your Rado! Glad we could help find the perfect board for you.

Great versatile board!

Sturdy, durable, high quality board that performs well in flat or moving water. A high performing board in whitewater and ocean surf. Love the Stomp box 2.0!

Tough as nails, stable, and nimble

This board is the bees knees! Love the control I have with this board on mild white water. Awesome for multi-day trips. Skinny water in the summer, no problem! The flexibility of the fin system allows you to adapt to water depths through the year. This board does it all. I use my board 20 times a year and it handles everything I throw at it. Could not be more thrilled with the performance of this board. I have used other boards, they all started having issues as the season rolled along. This board does not disappoint.

Only issue is getting used

Only issue is getting used to the installation of the middle fin--it feel out once due to improper assembly by me So far the board is good; not sure about the longevity of the middle pop up fin perhaps the smaller fin would be a better fit

Great board with significant design flaws

I love the quality and feel of this board, but not 100% sold on the detachable fins and stop box. I have lost multiple small fins because of a design flaw in the screws that keep the fins attached. They just don't attach well, so I am always having to buy replacements. The stop box, while seems great in theory, having used it on the river now, if it bends just the slightest ( which it will ) it will not fit into the slot anymore. I wanted a river board, so I spent the extra money, but I bought my son the straight up, and I would suggest that model until HALA gets these issues sorted out.

Hi Sara, we appreciate your honest review back when you got your board. I hope it's brought you on many adventures over the last few years. We have upgraded our StompBox fin with new material and a new spring system, so it rarely has issues with getting stuck or bent. If you are still having trouble with your fin, please message us at warranty@halagear.com and we can upgrade your fin for free under warranty! We can also provide some more hardware and advice for attaching your side fins.

Rado is Rad Though

Perfect for me at 215, steady and relatively fast! Looking forward to getting on the send on mild rivers and taking the dog for long paddles on the lake! The Hala Rado is pretty Rad!

"Rado" the board that does everything most folks would do on a SUP

This is a great board! It will handle anything with ease. I have taken it through class 1 &2 white water and it felt like there weren't any rapids. I've had it a shallow river withe lots of debris and it handled every tight turn with ease and had no problems with slightly protruding logs and extremely shallow sections. I've packed it full of camping gear and and gone "Adventuring" for a few days. It also moves along quite well on flat water. I would recommend this board for beginners to experience paddlers. It can be a board a person can learn on from day one and continue to use and advance their skills on for years. I have 5 other board including an Atcha 86, as well as 'Touring" boards and "Racing" boards and this board was a great addition to my "quiver" of boards.

Great for the bigger paddler!

I had a chance to paddle the Rado and Atcha 96. The Atcha was fun on the river, but at 250lbs (intermediate skill) I found the Rado to be a better fit. It's very stable while still being responsive enough to play in the rapids. I felt comfortable in the flats and on the river. Just ordered a Rado of my own and can't wait to get it in the water!
