Hala Atcha 86

The new design of the atcha 8 6 is amazing. It is extremely maneuverable, super fun catching eddies and great for surfing. The quality of this board is worth every penny and the stomp box technology makes padding shallow rivers care-free. Nice work Hala!

Hala has done it again! This is the 5th generation of the Atcha 86 that I have paddled and it keeps getting better and better. The 2025 version has a pointer nose and slightly longer front rocker making it sportier, faster, better at punching holes, and more fun!

This is my 2nd ATCHA 86 and I LOVE the board. I had my first one for 4 years and surf year around in Arkansas. It finally got a bunch of small holes all over the top of it it that I don’t know how to repair. I bought my 2nd one and two days later after purchase, it was discounted $50 and a free leash was given with purchase. I got less for buying early. It just doesn’t leave you with the warm and fuzzy feeling. The new rocker design is fun but def takes some getting used to since less of the board is in the water, it’s less stable. I was planning to get the 96 but felt less inspired after all the deals came post purchase. Just something to think about. Hala is my fav for quality. I have had many other boards over the years too.

This board is amazing. I had a prior version and the redesign is impressively more agile and confident. It’s even fun in flat water. Runs rapids like a skateboard. Of note, I had a problem with the fin being bent on arrival and Hala sent a new one when I called. Impressed with their product and service.

Hala makes incredible boards and treated me very well when I had to replace my last board after six awesome years. My new board is the shorter option and is definitely more aggressive but still super stable. I took it out to the lake to try it out and managed to stay on top in the wind, along with three very energetic dogs. Can't wait to try surfing it on the river.

I like a board that moves easily and the new 86 maneuvers beautifully. It’s incredibly responsive to subtle changes in the water and my paddling technique. It’s got all the agility and playfulness that I love about my 711 with more speed. It cuts cleanly through wave trains and eddy lines. It’s easier to sink the tail and play around in ways I haven’t been able to on other boards. All around, it’s a fun ride for sure. The new Atchas also look great on the water. I love the high contrast. But does anyone paddle a Hala because it’s pretty? Performance matters most and the new Atchas deliver. I can’t wait to see all the fancy things other paddlers can do on the new models.

Love the Atcha. It’s shorter and more nimble than my Radito while still being very capable to river run with. While not being a dedicated river surf SUP it does quite well in the surfing department too.

This thing is super fun. Got it as a more playful companion to my Radito but have ended up using this board for the bulk of time on the river.

What a sweet whitewater board! The rocker design gets you thru class II-III whitewater easily. Haven’t tried it on class IV (yet) but I wouldn’t be afraid to! I’ve SUP’d whitewater with an old NRS Big Bertha, a BlackFin X, a Glide Lochsa, and now the Atcha 8.6. Truly a phenomenal board for any aspiring or experienced whitewater SUP’er.

Lovin' my new Atcha 86! She's a beauty, sporty, catches eddies like a dream! Once I got the hang of it, she was stable in wave trains! I'm not sure I could ask for anything more!!

I absolutely LOVE my Atcha 86!!! Just did a class II run on the Trinity River in CA. What a blast!!! And what a beast! I hit a few rocks with no consequences at all. I highly recommend the Atcha.

Sporty rocker, holds air for weeks, low maintained board that can handle any river level! the retractable fin is great at lower levels, and the additional gear loops are needed for overnight trips, and most boards don’t have them! Plus, the customer service is awesome!

A great playful board for adults and it works awesome for getting kids into whitewater sup as well!

This is a really cool watercraft. Ive mostly run creeks and this thing is so nimble for sneaking through rocky pockets, and light enough to carry over logs, and up trails. This is my first creek/WW board so im getting used to the small platform, its wobbly, id think a bigger board would be a better fit for bigger water and bigger people, but its allowing me to access water that would be hard to get to any other way. Ive used this for creek fishing and caught a steelhead the first time I used it, so it got a good christening right out the box! it is very good for me

I finally upgraded to this board from my older model 9’6” Atcha that did not have the stomp box/retractable fin. The retractable fin works great on my local rocky and sometimes shallow river! And the smaller size makes it easier for me to maneuver and carry (I’m 5’1”). So far … I’m loving my new board!

Love fishing from this board! Perfect size and great stability. Could use a new bag/pump tho. Both worn out from overuse and bushwhacking!

This is my first white water paddle board and I am loving it! It’s light enough that I don’t struggle carrying it up hills and stable enough that I feel confident.

Im on my 2nd Hala board for different water scenarios . The Atcha is just a good time. I would recommend this board to anyone seeking fun on the river.

Having spent plenty of time with this board and others of a shorter variety I find myself going back to the 86. I have found the speed to be reasonable for my size with the stability being outstanding lending it to be more effortless than other craft saving energy. Back to back surfing sessions with various boards make it clear, the Atcha is a joy to surf! Its river navigation characteristics are on point also. Getting to a wave is not a chore/ordeal as it is with other boards. I love the way I can move around and chance stance as needed depending on the situation. Indeed this board has allowed me to improve my footy work. As my skillz have improved the 86 Atcha is right there like a best buddy. Its hard to imagine that it could be any better. wink wink nudge nudge

So with time+ spent on this craft it is becoming my favorite ride for surfing and getting around. The ease of surfing makes it so fun. Smaller boards I have are nimble but harder work. The 86 Atcha is the big fun recliner of sweetness that will give you yummy smiles for years to come.

Love the board, although it would be great if you could buy a board without the pump and bag for those of us who have many board to save on natural resources and excess garbage in landfills. Currently I have "5" pumps and "4",bags that I will never use taking up valuable garage space.

The full length rocker makes it surf well but getting to and catching those waves can be tough. I am 230lbs and have 4 decades of white water experience and coming from the Rado, a board which I love. The more time I spend on it the better I do but there is a learning curve. A smaller person would probably not have these issues. Switched out the stock fins for low profiles and immediately went back to the longer fins as tracking was abysmal but surfing was fine. Hala boards are top notch and of excellent quality.

I am larger paddler, 6' and 230lbs, 40+ years of white water experience. I am coming from longer boards(Rado) so there is a learning curve for me. I switched out the longer fin for the 4.5" stomp fin and the low profile side bites as I will be using this one on the lower water levels for now. Tracking is what it is even with the longer stock set up. I do like the way it surfs, the more time I spend on it the more fun I have. The full length rocker makes it slower in fast water and waves. I find it critical to have the proper stance and position on the board to get the most out of it. I will not be running anything more than class II-III with it and some of that will be done on the down low(knees). I look forward to spending more time on this one and getting it dialed in better.
