Hala Rado

Sale price$1,399.00
(4.8)

The Epic River, Expedition, and Fishing SUP. The Hala Rado is built for paddlers who want the best of both worlds: whitewater performance and flatwater versatility. Designed for those who split their time between the river and the lake, the Rado provides serious river performance without sacrificing efficiency or stability on calm water.

Like all Hala river boards, it features the Hala StompBox - the patented retractable fin system that started it all. Other retractable fins rely on gravity — in current, that means the fin bounces and shudders instead of holds, costing you tracking and control. The StompBox is different: active spring pressure keeps the fin locked at full depth at all times, giving you consistent drive, speed, and the ability to set and hold your ferry angle. And because the fin retracts completely on contact with the bottom, you can paddle into water so shallow a fixed-fin board would bottom out - reach the skinny flats and gravel bars where the fish are holding, and stay balanced doing it. Swap fins on the fly with our compatible fin lineup.

Perfect for expeditions, this board features ample gear capacity and rigging points on both the front and back to carry everything you need for an adventure - including coolers, dry bags, and fishing gear. The Rado is also our top pick for SUP fishing: rig it with a mini cooler and an attached rod holder and you have everything you need to fish rivers, lakes, and anywhere in between. Browse our fishing SUP collection for more.

The aggressive rocker profile and narrow side cut take the Rado's performance to the next level, maintaining speed, efficiency, and directional stability in all water conditions. The heavy nose rocker enhances downriver performance, allowing you to navigate rapids with ease, while the flatter tail helps maintain speed through features on the river. This tail also improves tracking, compensating for the nose rocker and ensuring a smooth, gliding experience on flat water.

Whether you're charging the river, paddling across a serene lake, or setting up for a full day of fishing, the Hala Rado is ready for everything. If you want something more aggressive on whitewater, check out the Atcha 96. Looking for a more responsive, quicker-turning option? See the Radito. Browse the Adventure Series.

Expedition Series: Rado or Radito?

Both are Expedition Series boards built to go everywhere: rivers, expeditions, fishing, and flatwater. The Rado is the larger, steadier board: 10'10" long and 35" wide, with more volume and carrying capacity for loaded multi-day trips. The Radito is shorter (10' x 34"), more responsive, and a natural fit for smaller paddlers or anyone who wants quicker, nimbler handling without giving up range.

The Rado is the right call for loaded expeditions, bigger paddlers, and days where gear capacity matters. The Radito suits smaller paddlers or anyone who wants quicker, nimbler handling without giving up capability.

Compatible Fins for the Rado

The Rado runs Hala's patented StompBox 2.5 center fin system. The spring holds the fin locked at full depth with zero wobble, deflects automatically on rock contact, and springs back before your next stroke.

Center Fins -- StompBox 2.5:

  • 9" Spring StompFin (Included) -- Ships with every Rado. The standard all-around river fin for Class II-IV. Springs back automatically on rock contact.
  • 9" Tracking StompFin (Optional upgrade) -- More downriver drive and straight-line tracking for deeper water, big-volume rivers, and expedition runs.
  • 4.5" StompFin (Optional upgrade) -- Shallow sections, technical rocky lines, and a surfy, playful feel. Also springs back on contact.

Side-Bite Click Fins:

  • 4.5" Gummy (Included) -- Ships with every StompBox board. Soft compound for grip without catching on rocks.
  • 4.5" Hard (Optional) -- Firmer side bite for maximum carving grip, lateral stability, and edge hold on moving water.
  • 2" Gummy (Optional) -- Low-profile gummy for shallow, rocky lines where you want side hold without the snag risk. Shop 2" Gummy.
  • Low-Pro 1.5" (Optional) -- Minimal drag profile for very shallow sections and tight rocky corridors.
  • Pocket (Optional) -- Ultra-low profile for the shallowest approaches and most technical rocky lines.

Click fins seat and hold without tools -- just push to click. Grub screws and a surf key are included and recommended: a hard rear-board strike can trigger the click-release mechanism (that is how you remove them), so tightening the grub screws prevents accidental release in aggressive water.
