Why I love to SUP and how I discovered it…
Paddleboarding through whitewater was something that often tempted me as the seasons changed and the ice-falls melted. Living in the greater Yellowstone ecosystem presents one with a tremendous amount of outdoor opportunity and to really excel in your sports you have to be a little selective about where you dedicate you time. Ice climbing was my cold sport, rock climbing my warm, but I didnt have my wet sport decided on. I started launching after the Yellowstone, Gallatin, and Madison river with the determination of making it an integral facet of my outside adventures.
The body of water you’ll most likely find me on…
Something dynamic, white, and freshly melted from the mountains. The Rocky’s have a multitude of small rivers rushing from them, which, in many circumstances, are more apt for paddleboards or Kayaks because of size yet hold a plethora of IV’s and V’s. I‘ll either be out there trying to pioneer my way down some of those or out on the Gallatin.
Which boards I’m riding? Which one is my favorite? …
I ride the Hala Luya with a butterknife. I have riden the Atcha, which I still have yet to get, its a great board and my buddy lets me steal his depending on the water I‘m heading out to so long as I leave my Luya in its place.
My next dream paddling adventure is…
The Tuolumne River in California
What I do when I am not paddling?
Ice Climb, Rock Climb, spend every waking moment outside adventuring with my son, plan big goals and work hard only to laugh at my shortcomings.
