Tell us a little bit about yourself
I've been on a SUP for about 6 years now. It all started on the Green River on some VERY unstable boards. Some friends and I would do night floats outside of Canyonlands on BLM lands. From there I progressed to the Upper Colorado River and Eagle River. Some time in 2019 a friend and I started scheming on how we could do overnight, fully self-supported SUP trips and this is where the fun began. We did our first time on the Upper Colorado River. It wasn't a very long trip but we wanted MORE! We thought... why not do the entire Upper Colorado from Pumphouse to Dotsero?! Well that is exactly what we did... the whole 60 miles on standup paddleboards. It took us 43 hours the first time we did it. We joke that we are world record holders because we don't know of anyone who has done it on a SUP. We came back the next year and did it again! This time (2022) we did it in 30 hours and 20 minutes.
When I'm not doing crazy long trips on the Upper Colorado I'm doing my snow dance in hopes that the Chute at Muddy Creek will run again someday! We ran that in 2019 on Hala Atchas and beat the snot out of them. As far as competitions go, I've only ever participated in the Go Pro Mountain Games in Vail, CO. That event has a very fun vibe and no pressure to be first... just to have fun. As a Hala Team rider I hope to introduce other people to paddleboarding. I'm in my early 40's and it's never too late to learn to paddle!
