Why I love to SUP and how I discovered it? I love to SUP because I enjoy the options in intensity and venues. I can enjoy an easy paddle along the lake bank or I can hit the whitewater and try to catch waves to surf. I grew up with parents owning a rafting company and began river guiding at a young age. When I discovered SUP, it energized every aspect of paddling for me and gave me a new way to share the river with other people.
The body of water you’ll most likely find me on: The New and Gauley Rivers
Which boards I’m riding? Which one is my favorite. I love the Hala Playa for cruising flat water and racing, the Hala Atcha for downriver whitewater, and this year I am looking forward to surfing the Peno!!
My next dream paddling adventure is to tour around the east coast attending down river races and making new friends.
What I do when I am not paddling? I recently started working for a non-profit, Active Southern West Virginia. We focus on getting the residents of the New River Gorge region physically active outdoors through community programming. I love incorporating SUP into our programs because it is has a fast fun learning curve!
