Product Description

New For 2016

PSI – Performance Shape Inflatable™

You want your board to perform at the highest level possible so the versatility can match your appetite for adventure. Precise rocker and shapes make the board more fun, and they take more time and money to create. We are willing to throw down for that.

Precise Sidewall Reinforcement

Our sidewalls use two PVC layers specifically manufactured for superior air holding. Unlike typical PVC tarpaulin, the specialized sidewall material features internal fibers coated in liquid PVC before incorporation with the outer PVC layer, making the layers more durable and resilient than ever before.

Click Fin Box

Now you can choose to remove your side fins, and can use any tab-style fin with this box. Click in – click out, no tools needed. Click it in for flat water or surf, lock it down with grub screws for whitewater use.

Raised Foot Index

A central index that lets you know where your foot is on the board, and allows you to find the stringer lines for optimal control and balance.

Travel-tough Rolling Backpack

Designed in house by Hala Gear, the board bag gets a new look and improved features.
Rolling wheels make transportation easier, re-designed shoulder straps and hip belt result in more comfortable carrying of the board. Improved zipper outline make packing your board up less of a hassle.

    :

The Nass really does scoot for an inflatable, yet turns great. I started getting over – confident and fell in surfing boat wakes on the Nass, but it really makes me want to get on a river or the ocean! It’s fun trying to develop some skills. I don’t know if it’s the rocker of the Hala boards or what, but they seem to glide better than other boards I’ve been on.

Here I am on the SUP just off Sandy Spit, Jost Van Dyke, BVI. The Nass may look a bit out of proportion since I am 6’10”, 260. It’s a great product even for a guy my size (and travels well too). I use a Sawyer 3-piece carbon fiber paddle (although due to it’s custom length is a little harder to pack than the SUP).

Summary: Fantastic board to go fast even with one or two of my daughters on the front.
    Pros: Fast
    Cons: Don’t need a seat
    Usage: Lake and river

    :

The Nass is a great touring inflatable that is relatively light weight but durable and rigid.
It is a light inflatable that can handle a beating. Have paddled it down river touring and on a several hundred mile self-supported expedition in Baja.

I have had my Nass for almost two full seasons now and I couldn’t be happier. This board is fast and agile, yet still extremely stable for a 12′ race board. I have paddled everything from Bear Creek at high and low flows to the Colorado River in big water and the Nass powers through – punching through holes easily. If you are choosing between this board and the atcha for river running – I would recommend this board if you ever consider racing at any point in your standup journey. While this board is less stable than the Atcha because it is narrower, the difference in stability is not extreme, yet the difference in speed is. This board gets you down river fast. After a few trips on the board the agility sets in and you will find yourself navigating in and out of eddys with ease. Can’t say I have really any complaints about this board. Love the removable fin (my does not have a stomp box – but excited to try this feature on my new Atcha this upcoming season), love the carrying case – I have taken this board across the country via the airplane (southwest) and it travels well and stayed underweight even with my paddle and life jacket in the case.

    :

I used the Hala Gear ‘Nass’ on a road trip out west last summer, and deflated it took up about 1/4 of the back seat, allowing me the freedom from having to car-top a board and greater security from theft at trailheads/campgrounds/hotels when not in use and when I was away from the vehicle. Using the supplied hand pump it fully inflated in 5 minutes or less. It also comes with an electric pump that plugs into an auto cigarette lighter.

Pros: Good placement of tie-down rings for gear placement, rapid inflation with the supplied hand pump. FAST for an inflatable! Excellent design, construction and materials as well as stability. Easily deflated and rolled for storage in supplied bag. Newer ’16 storage bags have roller wheels and are slightly larger. Though I had no problem fitting it all in the ’15 models bag, the newer bags have added room for a PFD and a few extras. ‘

Cons: The ’15 model had just a tad bit of flex for its 12’ length (though still very fast and stable, the minimal flex is barely a con) and the ’16 model is said to be stiffer with additional hull stringers in the construction. I only mention the flex in the Nass after using the Hala Gear ‘Straight Up’ which is 2′ shorter at 10′ a year before on the Colorado River. The shorter Straight Up showed no flex that I could notice on the flats, and a very minimal flex running through standing waves and whiteH2o on the Colorado River.

Usage: My intended use is exercise and touring.
