Product Description

New For 2016

PSI – Performance Shape Inflatable™

You want your board to perform at the highest level possible so the versatility can match your appetite for adventure. Precise rocker and shapes make the board more fun, and they take more time and money to create. We are willing to throw down for that.

Precise Sidewall Reinforcement

Our sidewalls use two PVC layers specifically manufactured for superior air holding. Unlike typical PVC tarpaulin, the specialized sidewall material features internal fibers coated in liquid PVC before incorporation with the outer PVC layer, making the layers more durable and resilient than ever before.

Raised Foot Index

A central index that lets you know where your foot is on the board, and allows you to find the stringer lines for optimal control and balance.

Click Fin Box

Now you can choose to remove your side fins, and can use any tab-style fin with this box. Click in – click out, no tools needed. Click it in for flat water or surf, lock it down with grub screws for whitewater use.

Travel-tough Rolling Backpack

Designed in house by Hala Gear, the board bag gets a new look and improved features.
Rolling wheels make transportation easier, re-designed shoulder straps and hip belt result in more comfortable carrying of the board. Improved zipper outline make packing your board up less of a hassle.

Just got back from my first excursion on my new Straight Up. It was awesome. I bought 2 from Josh @ Paddle Moab after using them on a guided trip down the Colorado. Shipping was super fast. They come with everything. Set up was simple and the board rides great. It is also the best looking paddle board out there. Everyone who saw us today commented on how cool the board looks. We’re off to California next week to explore the coast around Laguna Beach. Thanks for a great product!

We absolutely love the Straight Up, and so does anyone we’ve had take her out!

The Straight Up is really maneuverable and not a pig on the lake either. It does take a few paddle strokes before it will start tracking straight, but that’s the pay off I suppose for that maneuverability. I don’t know if it’s the rocker of the Hala boards or what, but they seem to glide better than other boards I’ve been on.

I’ve punished this board at this point and I can vouch the Straight Up is sweet! It’s super fun on the river as it surfs well on many river waves and can turn on a dime. From low water micro-surf sessions to tracking straight on ocean chop, this board performs. Thanks for a GREAT product!

This is the best all around board! My husband and I both have one and use them mainly in the ocean in San Diego, CA. It’s a great board for the harbor or the waves and is stable and easy to maneuver. We plan on taking them to Hawaii in a couple of weeks and expect them to handle extremely well here too. We also have the kayak attachments and they are lots of fun as kayaks too! Tis board is so versatile and can be used as a stand up paddle board, a surf board, or a kayak. The quality of these boards is unsurpassed in the market. And the customer service we received was five star! I love this company!

The bulk of my experience with the Hala Straight Up was when I used it on a 3-day expedition down the Battenkill River in VT/NY. At first I was nervous about how this board would work when loaded down with camping gear, but it performed perfectly. It was very stable, even with about 40 pounds of gear on board, and at just 10’ long, it was extremely maneuverable on a river filled with obstacles like downed trees and tight Class I-II rapids.

I was originally drawn to Hala Gear’s boards because of the plentiful tie-down options. There are multiple D-rings on both the nose and tail of the board, which gives you lots of space to put gear for a long trip. It was a very shallow river, so I did not even use the flexible center fin. The unbreakable side fins are indeed, unbreakable; believe me, we tried! We had to drag our boards over shallow stretches and pull and carry them over downed trees and through the woods.
The car pump that comes with the board was a huge help in pumping up the boards. It can take a while (usually about 10 minutes for me) to get the board up to 15 PSI. Once pumped to 15 PSI they are very rigid, but I did appreciate that there was a little bit of give. My feet never tired or went numb, even when we paddled for over 8 hours a day. It was especially nice when I often had to drop to my knees after hitting rocks in the shallow river, and I was so glad to be on an inflatable for that.

I found the Straight Up to be a perfect crossover for beginner whitewater paddling and river expeditions. After our trip, I was able to test it on some more challenging rapids at home and it was great in tight, rocky rapids with about one-foot drops. I wouldn’t want to use it just for lakes and flat water paddling (too slow for me), but I loved having it packed in the back of my car, ready for whatever adventure I could find!

Awesome inflatable board! Did a lot of research and this was the best I could find. Very happy with my purchase. Good glide and speed for the size. Solid build. Doesn’t flex in the middle like other boards, was actually standing above the water instead of in it. Good whitewater. Will be testing waves in Hawaii soon, but shape looks solid for ocean surfing.
