Product Description

The Hala Luya delivers our DoubleStack™ construction for extra grit in intense whitewater. The top layer gives you a 3” raised front and side rail for additional foot bracing and stability while you fight through big waves. And the 6”bottom layer offers a stable platform so you can feel supported in your stance.

This new school, big water board offers maneuverability while the swallowtail contributes to the Luya’s surfability. The Luya has supreme balance with its full rocker, it’s primary stability being sporty and responsive, while the secondary stability responds with absurd precision in rough water.

With the Hala Stompbox™, you’ll glide over rocks and stick to your line. And the Core Construction™ lets you rig up your gear and rage through voluminous waters.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the “tent” that is created with this DoubleStack™ construction, you will notice upon the first inflation of your Luya, some mild wrinkling on the underside of the board. We recommend that once you inflate your board, place it in the sun for a max of 20 minutes upside down, which will further expand the material and erase the wrinkles permanently.

Board Tech Details – We’re obsessed to deliver the best!

Full Rocker
Our tip-to-tail full rocker is extreme when combined with the Luya’s DoubleStack™ construction. The nose of the Luya is similar to a drift boat, punching massive holes with balance. Learn more about Hala’s rockers.

Core Construction™
These board can take a serious beating and you can keep on cruising with our burly Double-Layer Drop Stitch material. How do we make our boards so rugged? Rig-Up 4 D-Ring Rigging Points
Triple-reinforced D-Rings provide rigging points to strap on your gear and keep it secure as you paddle.

Leash D-Ring

  1. 5 out of 5

    :

This board is BEAST MODE! If you want to charge the BIG rapids, then this is the board for you! Stability and volume up front for the big holes and crazy cross current rapids. The board also has great rocker for maneuverability to make crucial moves when it counts. The board surfs great as well!

  2. 5 out of 5

    :

Love the Hala Luya! This board is amazing for punching huge holes and features. Because of the rocker and extra volume in the front its so stable!!. You don’t have to worry about laterals knocking you off your board, the secondary stability allows you to stay on your line. It crosses boils and eddy lines without you feeling like you might fall in. Another amazing feature new for 2016 is the stomp box feature. I didn’t have to worry about catching my fin in shallow rapids. This is the ultimate whitewater board! Having a board like this is essential to your SUP quiver.

    :

I love this board. Yes it’s big and funny looking, but this thing hammers whitewater. Forgiving because of the shape and super maneuverable. It’s not the fastest board, so don’t expect to win any races with it, but it is fantastic for what it’s designed to do.

      Hi Nick,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. The Luya is definitely an incredibly stable and reliable board. It stomps the biggest whitewater that you can on a SUP. It handles choppy water unlike any other board out there and does everything big. Enjoy the Luya!

      Hala!

  4. 5 out of 5

    :

This board is a whitewater machine. Imagine a creeking kayak crossed with an iSUP and you get the Luya. I’ve taken this board down class IV rapids as well as surfed it in waves/holes. It’s super fun and incredibly stable. It is however, a lot of board to move around, probably not the best for small paddlers.
