Tuck Fest, US National Whitewater Center, Charlotte, NC: Tuck Fest is a three-day festival the celebrates the outdoor lifestyle through competitions, exhibitions, demos, and live music at the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC). The festival features a variety of outdoor sport competions that include trail running, kayaking, biking, climbing, stand up paddleboarding, and adventure racing.


April 29-May 1, 2016
French Broad River Festival, Hot Springs, NC: French Broad River Festival takes place every year during the first weekend of May in beautiful Hot Springs, North Carolina. The festival, a benefit for American Whitewater, The Mountain Area Child & Family Center and Hot Springs Community Learning Center, is located just 35 minutes north of Asheville at the beautiful Hot Springs Campground and Spa. Come spend the weekend with family and friends listening to great regional and national recording artists. Enjoy shopping for new outdoor gear at the Live Auction or with one of our many art and craft vendors. Try participating in the “Paddle with the Pros”, the Annual FBRF Mountain Bike Race, or the Annual French Broad River Raft Race. Come on out for a weekend of fun, family, art, music and adventure.

Cheat Fest, Albright, WV: The annual Cheat River Festival is a celebration of new life, that which comes each Spring and the new life that can be found in the Cheat River watershed. Cheat Fest is Friends of the Cheat’s annual fundraiser which helps us advance our watershed projects and supports the organization’s administrative costs. Rain or shine, Cheat Fest is always a good time!

Vail Whitewater Series, Vail, CO: The Vail Recreation District partners with Alpine Quest Sports to host the annual Vail Whitewater Race Series. The races will be divided between three categories including kayak (under 9’6″),  two-person raft and stand up paddle board (SUP) with different course challenges every week. Course Challenge for each event will be determined the day prior based on river flows.

Back of Beyond, Moab, Utah: A 7-mile ACA-sanctioned race that follows the Colorado River through the spectacular red rock canyons of Southeastern Utah and past some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery, including through Moab’s ‘Postcard Alley’ and into Utah’s own ‘back of beyond.’ Elite and open classes offered. A portion of proceeds will be donated to SaveTheColorado.org.

Battle of the Broad, Ashville, NC: On Saturday May 14 & 5,2016 the 2nd annual Southern Raft Supply Battle of the Broad will commence. SUP is the hottest and fastest growing watersport in the world. The Battle of The Broad will bring that excitement and energy to Asheville and its iconic French Broad River. With a sprint race, distance paddle, Section 9 and kids race there will be prizes and awards for winners, live music and a great time for everyone.

Dominion Riverrock, Richmond, VA: Dominion Riverrock, organized by Venture Richmond and the Sports Backers, is the nation’s largest outdoor sports and music festival, bringing athletes, spectators, musicians, and even dogs to Brown’s Island for a three-day festival against the backdrop of downtown Richmond’s urban riverfront. The festival features a variety of outdoor sports including.

Paddlefest, Colorado Kayak Supply, Buena Vista, CO: CKS Paddlefest features live music, a used gear swap, pro kayaking and stand up paddleboarding competitions, guest speakers, biking, running, bouldering, vendors, manufacturers, workshops, special events and much more. Paddlefest is the highly anticipated, interactive and hands on paddling event of the year for all ages and ability levels.





June 4 – 5, 2016

Yampa River Festival,  Steamboat Springs, Colorado: The weekend kicks off with the Paddling Life Creek Race on Fish Creek at 5 p.m. Fri., June 3. Following that is an outdoor party in Strawberry Park before the weekend’s main events — including downriver races, freestyle events, SUP races and more — kick in on Saturday, June 4.  The day’s revelry ends with a river party at Sake2U downtown on the banks of the Yampa. On Sunday, slalom events will be held in Rich Weiss Park.


June 4 – 5, 2016

Animas River Days, Durango, Colorado: 8:30 am to 9:00 pm, at Santa Rita Park. Events include: boatercross, surf competition, kayak and SUP slalom, Smelter Smackdown raft sprint, SUP Last Paddler Standing whitewater race and stay at the park after the parade for the first ever NIGHTTIME inflatable and freestyle kayak rodeos. Cash prizes for competitors! Enter the yellow ducky race for a chance to WIN a stand-up paddle board.

GoPro Mountain Games, Vail, Colo.: Join the country’s largest celebration of adventure sports, music, and the mountain lifestyle at the 2015 Mountain Games. The four days of competition will span across nine sports in 25 disciplines, with SUP sprints and SUP cross events included.

FibArk, Salida, CO: Every year in June during the Arkansas River runoff in Salida, Colorado, a festival occurs called FIBArk or “First In Boating the Arkansas.” The festival focuses on whitewater boat races and paddlers from around the nation and world come to compete.

Coors Light Platte River Festival, Denver, CO: This two day festival is Denver’s premier urban RiverFest.  Activities will include free stand up paddle board  demos, a variety of riverside recreational activities, live music, beer, food, and more.

Potomac River Festival, Great Falls, MD: Incredible Paddling Action. An Epic Celebration of the Nation’s River. Featuring the Great Falls Race and the Widewater SUP Challenge.

Black Warrior SUP Championship, Tuscaloosa, AL:  This is the first ever SUP race on the Black Warrior River in downtown Tuscaloosa Alabama hosted by Smith Lake Paddle Boards. Race will be held at The Tuscaloosa Riverwalk Condominiums. The 6 mile course and 3 mile course will be part of the Southern Stoke Paddle Series.

Music City SUP Race, Nashville, TN:  SUP is about fun, but it is also about healthy competition. Nashville Paddle Company presents Nashville’s annual Music City SUP Race. The 2016 race will be July 30, 2016 at 9 a.m. at East Bank Landing on the Cumberland River. Proceeds from the race benefit the work of the Cumberland River Compact. The race award ceremony will be held in the Compact’s River Center, with an off-site after party. https://www.nashvillepaddle.com/race/

Livin’ Lush Cup: Under the Lights, Knoxville, TN: Join us for the first ever night race in downtown Knoxville under the city lights. Racing will start at dusk. All racers will be provided LED lighting with entry, a complimentary beer ticket and food. After party held at the Billy Lush Board Shop and all new Beer Porch!

Slam the Kan, Calgary, Alberta.  –  Paddling festival in Calgary on the Kananaskis River.


September 16 -17, 2016

Gauley Fest, Summersville, WV: All proceeds from the festival support American Whitewater’s river conservation and access works throughout the nation. Started in 1983 to celebrate the derailment of a hydro-electric project that would have disrupted the flows on the Gauley River, Gauley Fest has grown to become the largest paddling festival in the world. The festival is a showcase for American Whitewater and the top whitewater vendors in the boating community.

New River Gorge SUP Race, Fayetteville, WV: The NRG SUP Race a grass-roots gathering of SUP athletes, never-before-SUPped beginners, curious spectators and industry sponsors to celebrate all things West Virginia SUP, compete and have a blast. We hold this event amidst the backdrop of West Virginia’s stunning New River Gorge every year on Sunday during Gauley Fest.

Lake Murray SUP Classic, Columbia, SC: The 2065 Lake Murray SUP Classic, presented by Lake Murray Paddle Club, returns to the shores of Lake Murray for a full weekend of SUP fun! In its fourth year, this event features races for all skill levels–short and long-distances for intermediate through elite paddlers, a first-timers challenge, and a kids’ race.




October 1 – 2, 2016
The Pacific Paddle Games, Doheny State Beach; Dana Point, Calif.: SUP Magazine’s Pacific Paddle Games presented by Salt Life will feature Technical and Distance races (in both Pro and Open divisions), including Junior/ Grom Pro and Open categories, a Beginner Kids’ race, Prone Race, West Marine Demo Zone and much more! Additionally, #PPG2015 will feature the largest prize purse in paddle sports history at $55,000. Come down for the biggest weekend in SUP, from beginners to the best paddlers in the world!
